Google Maps Makes it Easier to Book an Uber, Lyft

Don't accept enough space on your telephone for the Uber app? No worries.

You can now book, complete, and pay for an Uber right from the Google Maps app, even when you don't accept the Uber app installed on your device.

Google Maps ride services "Once you sign into your existing Uber business relationship (or create one), you can book an Uber ride, rail your driver on the map, and connect with your driver—all from inside the Google Maps app," Google Senior Product Manager, Sara McKinley Torti, appear in her latest blogpost.

Google is besides making it super easy to access handy information well-nigh your destination—like menus and hours—when you're enroute. Now, once y'all book your ride, this data is "only a swipe away," Torti wrote.

Meanwhile, things volition await a picayune different from now on when you open the Google Maps ride services mode. Going frontwards, you'll run into a map along with a side-scrolling carousel of ride service options in your area, such as UberPool, UberX, UberXL and various options from Lyft and Gett, where available. Before, in that location had been simply a long listing of ride service providers and options.

"From booking a ride to reserving a table at a local restaurant, booking your favorite fitness grade to ordering commitment for a night in, Google Maps no longer just shows you the information you're looking for," Torti shared. "It also makes it easier to go things done in the existent earth — all in one place."

These updates are rolling out globally to the Google Maps apps for Apple iOS and Google Android.

Google, last March, added the ride services tab to Maps offering Uber fare estimates and pickup times and, in September, added Lyft and Gett to the mix. This lets people easily compare prices without having to download and open up a bunch of unlike apps.
